Description

Psalm 150 says, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!" That is exactly what we will do in this two-session audition class. Building on the foundation of singing as worship to the Giver of the gift, students will focus on vocal skills and abilities and be challenged with more difficult sight singing exercises, technique training, and musical comprehension. Students are expected to be able to hold their own parts and properly blend when singing in duets, trios, and small groups. More challenging pieces will be used and performed in this class. This advanced class is a wonderful opportunity for the serious vocalist!

There will be an all-area, one day event called MusicFest (Saturday, June 7th, time and location TBD) to come together and celebrate all that was learned!  The fee for MusicFest will be applied to your spring registration charges, and is required of all 150 Voice students regardless of student's ability to attend.

** Please Note: **
  • 150 classes are a two-session commitment.
  • Participation in this class is through audition only.
  • There must be a minimum of 8 participants for this class to run.
Auditions: Monday, November 18th 5:00-6:30pm at First Baptist Church of Machesney Park 718 Harlem Rd. Machesney Park, IL

I’m Mataya, or “Mattie.” I’ve been a part of CYT since I was 9. I have vocal directed, choreographed, & have taught classes since graduating. I have been in close to 40 musicals and plays. Outside of CYT, I teach private piano and voice lessons. I live with my husband, Zack, my two cats, and my new baby girl, Elizabeth, who can’t wait to do CYT someday. I love being part of the CYT family and watching my students shine.
