Description

This class is a great opportunity for students to train in multiple styles of dance, encouraging them to become more well-rounded performers and artists. Jazz is a fun, high-energy dance form that combines technique, intricate rhythms, and stylistic movement. The jazz portion of the class will include strength and flexibility training, conditioning technique, rhythm and musicality through isolations, and across the floor progressions. Tap is an audible art form in which dancers create sounds using precise rhythmical patterns of foot movement and audible foot tapping. The tap portion of the class will include developing rhythm, timing, and style, producing clear tap sounds, using proper tap technique, and speed of movement through musical awareness. Students will learn one jazz piece and one tap piece, both to be performed at the class showcase.
