Sarah Schmidt has been singing and dancing since she was a toddler. She took twelve years of dance classes through her childhood and then joined CYT in its early years here in the Chicago area as both a student and teacher. She performed in several CYT shows and taught at many classes and summer camps. She went on to get her Elementary Education degree, with an emphasis in Middle School Language Arts, at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She had the privilege of traveling abroad to the British Isles during her time at Bethel and fell in love with theater even more during her months there, reading and watching plays throughout England and London. Sarah married her other half (Zach) during college, went on to teach in California while Zach attended seminary, and then returned to Illinois when they were pregnant with their first son. As soon as her first son was old enough, he started taking CYT classes and hasn't stopped since! Sarah now has seven children that she homeschools, so their house is a constant "stage" of chaos, love, singing, dancing, and laundry! Her three oldest children are all in love with CYT and have performed in multiple shows. Sarah found her place back to the teaching role a couple of years ago and has found such joy being back in the world of teaching children! She LOVES to encourage children to use the gifts God has given them to shine for His glory! It has been a thrill for her to experience CYT as a student, as a mom, and now, as a teacher. She can't wait to come alongside her students in growing in their gifts and talents, in finding more confidence on the stage, and in becoming who God has created them to be.
